Welcome to a New LifeGroup Session!

Before we jump into our study, let's take a moment to remember that there are THREE things we want to see happen every time our LifeGroups gather:

Movement towards Each Other
Movement towards God
Movement towards our Community

Our questions follow this same format. All of the questions are designed towards movement. We hope you enjoy your time together in your LifeGroup.
**Remember, our goal is to deepen our relationship with Jesus and each other. Use the questions that are help and skip the rest.

CURRENT SERIES: Necessary Sins

Some sins are always wrong: murder, stealing, abuse, etc., but we allow certain habits to "help" us deal with life. Sometimes, those bad habits can become part of our identity. It's time to separate ourselves from these "necessary" habits and recognize them for what they really are: SINS. In this four week series we will look at lying, gossip, lust and anger and how we can replace these habits with obedience and grace.

Last Week:
Memorize James 1:19.
When anger comes, What will be your action to the reaction?

Two Weeks Ago:
Read Ephesians 4:29 every day.
Speak well of one person every single day when that person isn't around to hear it

Key Verse:
“What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you?" James 4:1

Movement Towards Each Other (know the people in your group)
If you could buy one thing, money is no object, what would you buy?

Movement Towards God (grow in your relationship with God)
When you were a kid, what is one thing that you really wanted for Christmas?
How big of a deal was getting presents at Christmas when you were a child?
Did you make a list?
What happened if you didn't get all the stuff you wanted?
What does the word "lust" mean to you?
Name some of the things/ways where lust would apply
What is the difference between need and want?
Are wants automatically something that turns into lust?
Where is the line?
Read James 4:1-3
What are the lengths someone would go to get what they want?
How about you?
When do you know that what you want may not be what is best for you to pursue?
Why is it so tempting, especially when it starts as just a feeling?
Read James 1:14-15
Have you ever thought God was holding out on you?
What does it mean to be "lured and enticed"?
If the Bible lays out the whole plan of lust, why do we still engage?
When it comes to lust, how far is too far?
Read Romans 1:21-25
How does this passage reflect what we see in our world today?
What happens when we fully embrace lust?
Then why do we do it?
Read Genesis 22:14; Galatians 5:16-17; Philippians 4:19
What do these passages tell us about God?
Does God love us even if we don't get what we want? Explain
Is it ok to pray about stuff that we want?
How do we know what we should pray for and not pray for?
How is not always getting what we want a blessing?

Movement Towards Community (they see the change in you)
Memorize Philippians 4:19
Make a list of some of the things you want. Ask God to show you what is best. When the temptation of lust comes, recite this verse. Ask yourself, is this something that is good for me? If yes, do I trust God to provide it?
