Welcome to a New LifeGroup Session!

Before we jump into our study, let's take a moment to remember that there are THREE things we want to see happen every time our LifeGroups gather:

Movement towards Each Other
Movement towards God
Movement towards our Community

Our questions follow this same format. All of the questions are designed towards movement. We hope you enjoy your time together in your LifeGroup.
**Remember, our goal is to deepen our relationship with Jesus and each other. Use the questions that are help and skip the rest.

CURRENT SERIES: Better Than Happy

All of us wish for happiness. Some people look to their friends, family, and finances to find it. Some devote their search for happiness in food, clothes, toys, and new things. But happiness is a lot like the cold air we exhale in the winter – it’s here and quickly disappears. God has something better in mind than a search for happiness. It’s called JOY.

Last Week:
This week you will face difficulty. How can you choose to have joy in those circumstances?
Read James 1:2-5

Two Weeks Ago:

Key Verse:  “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy,” Philippians 1:3–4

Movement Towards Each Other (know the people in your group)

Movement Towards God (grow in your relationship with God)
If you could have a different job/career, what would it be?
What is one thing you were put on this earth to do?
What does it mean to have purpose?
How does someone find their purpose?
Does purpose give you joy or does joy give you purpose?
How could purpose rob you of your joy?
Read Philippians 1:12-14
What was Paul's purpose?
What was the cost of Paul sharing the Gospel in Rome?
Read verse 12 again
Can fulfilling your purpose also cause discomfort? Explain
What if God asked you to do something like go to prison so the Gospel can be preached?
What would have happened if Paul had sought the easy way?
Do you think we are more willing to pursue comfort over obedience? Explain
Read Matthew 22:39; Ephesians 5:2, 22, 25; Matthew 5:44; Mark 16:15
What are some basic things we know God is calling us to do? (Come up with a list)
On that list, what seems easier, what seems harder and what seems terrifying?
Who/what is the source of those thoughts, especially the ones that keep us from doing it?
As a Christian, is this part of our "purpose"?
What do you think is the biggest obstacle for us to engage in these things?
Who in your community would benefit from it? (name them)
What would it take for you to engage in something on that list this week that would be new for you?

Movement Towards Community (they see the change in you)
What is your purpose here in Kitsap County? What can you start doing this week?
