Welcome to a New LifeGroup Session!

Before we jump into our study, let's take a moment to remember that there are THREE things we want to see happen every time our LifeGroups gather:

Movement towards Each Other
Movement towards God
Movement towards our Community

Our questions follow this same format. All of the questions are designed towards movement. We hope you enjoy your time together in your LifeGroup.
**Remember, our goal is to deepen our relationship with Jesus and each other. Use the questions that are help and skip the rest.

CURRENT SERIES: I Want to Believe, But...

It’s can be difficult to believe in a God we cannot see. We wonder why God didn’t answer our prayers, why God allows suffering, or why we can’t feel His presence. God may not meet all your expectations—but that’s good news! Find out why in a new series: I Want to Believe, But...

Last Week:
Memorize Psalm 16:5. Make a list of ways God's boundaries protect you.

Two Weeks Ago:
Make a list of what you believe to be true about God. Take time this week to thank God for who He is, and who He is not.

Key Verse:
“that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us,” Acts 17:27

Movement Towards Each Other (know the people in your group)
What was the name of your first boyfriend/girlfriend/crush

Movement Towards God (grow in your relationship with God)
When did you start dating?
When was the first time you fell in love?
How did you know it was love and not some bad burrito from the night before?
Do feelings ever lie?
How do you know?
If so, then why do we place some much emphasis on them?
Read Psalm 139:1-18
How do we know that God is near?
Did the writer of this Psalm base any of it on feelings?
What is the difference between faith and feelings?
Which is more reliable?
If God "feels" distant, does that make it true? Explain
Read verses 7-12 again
Have you ever felt like God is not listening to you?
What do you do in those moments/seasons when God feels absent?
Read Matthew 13:14-15, 18-23
When is the last time you really felt God's presence in your life?
How do people, who have felt the presence of God, fall away from Him?
What advice would you give to someone who think God has gone silent in their lives?
Read Proverbs 8:17; Jeremiah 29:13; Matthew 7:7
What does this mean "Just because God is silent does not mean He is absent."?
How do those verses help answer that question?
When God feels distant, what should you do?
What will Satan try and get you to do?
Have one person read Psalm 139:1-18 out loud again. Everyone else in the group close your eyes and listen. Think of one "takeaway" for you in this passage.
What was your "takeaway"?

Movement Towards Community (they see the change in you)
Read Psalm 139:1-18 every day this week. Write down your one takeaway and put it somewhere where you can find it when you don't "feel" God in your life.
