About the Show: Pompous phonetics professor Henry Higgins is so sure of his abilities that he takes it upon himself to transform a Cockney working-class girl into someone who can pass for a cultured member of high society. His subject is the lovely Eliza Doolittle, who agrees to submit to his speech lessons to improve her job prospects, but turns out to be a lot more than he bargained for. Based on George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion, this beloved musical for the whole family boasts a score of hummable classics including “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?” “I Could Have Danced All Night,” and “On The Street Where You Live.”
In previous years, we would be having auditions the last week in August and rehearsals through the fall for a December production, but we’ve moved our production into the Spring to ease the Fall/Winter schedule at GracePoint which includes our annual Tree-Lighting event on December 1 and Christmas Eve Services right before Christmas Day.
