Thank you for your interest in Unexpecting: A 4-week grief workshop through pregnancy loss. We are so sorry you have experienced this loss, but thankful that we can join with you in your journey.

What you can expect from Unexpecting:

In a tightly knit, supportive group, we'll be exploring Loss, Lament, Love and Legacy: what I consider to be the 4 pillars of a grief that heals. We'll be including both instruction and group discussion.

  • In Loss, we'll discuss the unique and often misunderstood aspects of grief after losing a baby in pregnancy or shortly after birth, complicating factors in grief, and grieving differently as a couple.
  • In Lament, we'll discuss how to deal with issues of faith when you have to let go.
  • In Love, we'll discuss how your community around you can support your family in love as you mourn. Your friends and family are encouraged to join us as we go over helpful tips in ways to support a loved one through pregnancy loss, and 5 things to avoid.
  • In Legacy, we'll talk about looking to the future, finding hope after loss, and decisions you'll face moving forward. In the final hour of our class, we'll each be creating a customized memorial keepsake I think you'll treasure.

About Rachel Lewis:

After experiencing the loss of her second pregnancy due to ectopic pregnancy, Rachel began blogging through her experience of loss at The Lewis Note. Over the next 5 years, she experienced 4 more miscarriages in the first trimester. She later experienced further grief at the separation of a baby boy she raised for a year and a half as a foster parent. Determined to help raise awareness for pregnancy loss to make sure no one endures this alone, Rachel has expanded her ministry over the years. She is a regular contributor to Still Standing MagazinePregnancy After Loss Support, and That's Inappropriate. She is the founder of the #iam1in4 campaign, as featured by the TODAY Show. Her story has been featured by UpWorthyBabble and FaithIt. She spent several years volunteering for Mommies Enduring Neonatal Death (M.E.N.D.), and currently runs an online support group called Brave Mamas for more than 1,000 bereaved women. Her Unexpecting grief workshop is an extension of her non-fiction book on pregnancy loss, a work in progress with the contributions of more than 150 women who have endured pregnancy losses of various kinds. You can connect with Rachel on her blog, on Facebook or in her Brave Mamas support group. For speaking requests, please contact her at rachel@thelewisnote.com.

We know this workshop will not erase the pain of your loss. But we do hope that by joining hands and walking together through it, we can help ease your suffering.
